We're profiling the best of budget travel this week on Popupla and I stumbled across an adorable design hostel I hadn't heard of before — Long Story Short Hostel in Olomouc, a historic town in the Moravian region of the Czech Republic that is still well under the radar. Beautiful design treatments, dorm and private rooms, and an in-the-works co-working space for digital nomads put it high on mylist for affordable Europe travel. – Daniel, Popupla editor

South Dakota's Custer State Park this week — the first of the year! It's called a cinnamon calf (so cute) and it was literally found where the buffalo roam. –Jeralyn, editorial director

Some of the best-dressed hotels I’ve stayed at recently are from the UK-based group . That’s why I’m so excited to see they’ve partnered with nightwear brand Desmond & Dempsey to create custom PJs inspired by the English properties. I can’t wait to strut around in my own set when I stay at Artist Residence London this spring. - Amelia,

For a time, this exact spot in Rotterdam was thought to be the lowest point in the Netherlands, and a monument was commissioned to commemorate this fact. Ironically, as the monument was being constructed (at an appropriately monumental cost), it was discovered that the lowest point was actually just a couple of centimetres lower, a few kilometres off to the east. I find the Vierkant Eiland in de Plas (the Square Island in the Pond) a strangely soothing reminder of the vanity of all effort. — Michael,
