If you've ever walked past a tiny, boarded-up window in Florence and wondered why they exist beyond giving you something cute to Instagram, Messy Nessy Chic has an answer. I'm not going to spoil it, but it has to do with wine, savvy Florentine aristocrats, and, in some cases, old-fashioned charity. – Daniel, Popupla editor

The Glass House, an incredible minimal structure built as architect Philip Johnson's residence in Connecticut, is an icon for modernists who appreciate geometry, proportion, and reflection. It can be hard to get in for a tour, and kids are usually off limits, but on Saturday, June 9, from noon-4 p.m., a summer party allows for a crowd ( littles) to explore and enjoy the house and the grounds. There will be a farm-to-table picnic, lawn games, music, a silent auction powered by Paddle 8, and Tesla X cars driving visitors to and from their parked cars. - Jeralyn, editorial director

Shinola Hotel

Luxury watchmaker and Detroit hometown hero Shinola is partnering with local developer Bedrock and hotel operator Mac&Lo to open a boutique downtown, and, knowing their attention to detail, I'm banking on it being a thoughtful addition to the city's growing hotel scene. In the video link above, Shinola Creative Director Daniel Caudill, who has enlisted the help of Gachot Studios (New York’s Smyth Tribeca Hotel, Brooklyn’s Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club) and Kraemer Design Group (Detroit's Vinton building and Broderick Tower), speaks to the question: How does a watch maker go about designing a hotel? – Daniel, Popupla editor

The Užupis republic is a very special district in Vilnius, Lithuania. It’s an artist community, a place for free minds, art, and neighborliness. It has its own constitution (Užupio konstitucija) comprised of 41 decrees about the most important things in life that no-one should forget. For example: "No one has the right to violence." As well as: "A cat is not obliged to love its master, but it must help him in difficult times." Now the constitution is in 23 languages — . – Radvile,
